This Post Brought To You By The Letter D.

Julia is an amazing little girl and I consider her more that just my daughter - she is my buddy. Whenever I am home, she is usually sitting in my lap watching television, hanging on my back as I give her a piggyback train ride around the house, or attached to my leg wherever I go. She is a jealous little one too, as it is near impossible to give Lucy any one-on-one time before Julia does her best to intervene in every way imaginable.

Yep, that is my little girl.

It wasn't always this way. For the first two years of her life you was mommy's girl - seemingly attached to the hip. At night she would be snuggled up tight against her Mommy and all I would get throughout the night would be an occasional pair of icy cold feet against my back pushing me out of the bed. That was pretty much the extent of our relationship - I was her foot warmer at night.

That had definitely changed.

Julia's preschool has Show-And-Tell days every Wednesday and on these days, the kids bring in things that go along with the letter they are currently studying. For the week for M, Julia brought her mermaid doll, for F, she took her stuffed fish and so on. It is a fantastic way to spend time with her just coming with every word we can think of for each particular letter. Sure she can't actually take a porcupine to school for the letter P, but that didn't stop her from coming up with it.

It was a few hours before I had to leave for work tonight and the girls and I were laying in bed discussing our plans for the coming day. Julia was lamenting the fact that she was going to have to get up early for school - something she absolutely despises - when Leslie mentioned that tomorrow was the Show-N-Tell day and that Julia needed to bring something to class beginning with the letter D.

Without a moment of hesitation, Julia blurted excitedly - "DADDY! I can take you to show and tell!", as she gave me a big hug.

I have never wanted to play hooky from work so bad in my life.

I sure hope Ava wants to bring me for show and tell one day for the letter G...for Grandma.
